Facilities Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY:
We are currently looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician who will be responsible for ensuring that all buildings, equipment, and facilities are maintained in a safe, functional, and cost-effective manner.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Relevant technical qualification or trade certification will be advantageous (Electrical and plumbing)
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in facilities maintenance within a manufacturing or beverage/food environment.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and building maintenance.
• Valid driver’s licence (advantageous).
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Good time management and organisational skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and safety awareness.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance

• Perform day-to-day general maintenance of buildings and facilities.
• Carry out minor repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, tiling, and basic mechanical work.
• Conduct regular inspections of the site to identify maintenance issues and safety risks.
• Ensure all lighting, doors, locks, windows, and fixtures are in good working order.

Facilities & Infrastructure

• Maintain offices, warehouses, ablution facilities, parking areas, and common areas.
• Monitor HVAC, generators, pumps, and other facility-related equipment (where applicable).
• Assist with office setups, moves, and basic installations.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) regulations.
• Report hazards, incidents, and equipment faults immediately.
• Ensure maintenance work is conducted safely and according to company procedures.
• Assist during safety audits and inspections.

• Contractors & Service Providers

  • Liaise with external contractors for specialised maintenance work.
  • Supervise contractors on-site to ensure work is completed to standard.
  • Sign off on completed work and report any issues.

  Administration & Reporting

  • Record all maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Complete job cards, checklists, and maintenance logs.
  • Report recurring faults and recommend preventative maintenance solutions.
