SUMMARY:
An industrial equipment supplier needs an experienced Technical Sales Representative who can meets sales targets and market objectives independently, without intervention. 

A hunter sales personality with high reasoning skills need apply. A technical sales background with experience selling to industrial markets with knowledge of vacuum / water pumps, compressors, valves or related equipment is necessary for selling successfully in KZN.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements:
  • 2 to 5 years’ minimum experience in a high pressure, high pace external sales role.
  • Experienced in end user selling as well as distributor selling. (The
  • role will be mainly end user focused selling - 75%)
  • Experience selling to industrial markets: E.g., Food, plastics, woodwork, medical, automotive, packaging, wastewater
  • Experience in dealing with Engineering managers & Maintenance managers relating to either Vacuum pumps, Water pumps, compressors, Valves or other Industrial equipment.
  • Used to setting up and completing 20-25 calls per week. 50% at new
  • customer and 50% at existing customers
  • Experience selling an international brand and working for an
  • international OEM in South Africa is beneficial.
  • Experience doing basic customer presentations on PowerPoint to groups of
  • Technicians, Engineers & Maintenance managers etc.
Job description:
  • Identifying new prospects and cold calling on potential customers of vacuum pumps and systems.
  • Calling on existing customers and maintaining relationships and growing the business with these customers.
  • Setting and chasing ambitious sales targets.
  • Generate new pump sales
  • Submitting technical tenders on project opportunities.
  • Generate service and repair sales for the Busch workshop where needed.
  • Develop relationships with the key role players– i.e., Technicians, Engineers, Maintenance Managers, Consultants, Contractors, Distributors and End users
  • Ensure regular customer visitation, making sure budgets are achieved, Quotes and projects are followed up, ensuring overall service delivery to the various customers
  • Drive positive customer service through appropriate attitude and action.
  • Complete the required reports on time (weekly and monthly).
  • Develop and implement strategies with the sales team.
  • On-site problem solving.
  • Regular presentations to customers.
  • Expand the product and service offering within the various segments.

  • Attendance and assisting at trade shows / exhibitions.
  • Physical Demands: Travel regionally within a 150 km radius of Durban and sometimes further if the need arises.
  • This is an external position with extensive customer face time expected. There should not be more than a day a week as office admin time. Achieve sales growth of minimum 20% per annum.
  • Work in all sectors of the market (petrochemical, health, food processing, beverage, automotive, plastics, paper, wood etc.)
  • All communication with current and existing customers, sales personnel and distributors.
    Following up on all quoted enquiries.
    Development of South Africa business unit.
  • Completing sales/meeting reports weekly for senior management.
  • Focus on Existing and New sales orientated customers to grow branch.
  • Reduce costs and increase profitability of the business.
  • The smooth and lean running of your area is your responsibility. You are to formulate, implement and control all procedure required to perform tasks.
  • Any other duties as requested by manager and senior management.
  • Do training every month and add to training register before the end of the month
  • Development of key performance indicators, these include but are not limited to, getting it right first time, engineering efficiency, good communication with the team.
