JOB DESCRIPTION:

Qualifications & Competencies Required:

vMinimum 10 years’ relevant experience.
vOutstanding organizational skills.
vExcellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills.
vExcellent communication skills.
vKnowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
vSound Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act.
vIn depth knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles.
vIn dept knowledge of practices and procedures involved in researching, comparing and purchasing vehicles, equipment and supplies.
vLeadership abilities & Strong analytical skills.
vThe ability to identify competitive risk in the market and to realign strategy accordingly.
vAbility to think logically and analyse problems.
vExposure in the transport and logistics field with a wide networking capability.
vAbility to execute diagnostic procedures for vehicles.
vIn depth knowledge of operation, theory and principles of petrol and diesel - powered engines.
vBudget preparation and control.

Key Accountabilities:

vPlans, directs and co-ordinates the operation of vehicle maintenance and repair programs for company owned vehicles.
vReview purchase requests for new and replacement vehicles.
vPlans and administers a preventative maintenance and vehicle repair program for company owned vehicles and equipment nationally.
vPrepares cost analysis and periodic management and operational reports.
vPlan, organize and direct functions and activities related to the procurement, servicing, operation, maintenance and repair of company vehicles'' establish and maintain priorities and time lines, assure vehicle-related functions and activities comply with established laws, codes, rules, regulations and procedures.
vCo-ordinate and direct personnel nationally, resources and communications to meet Company vehicle needs and assure smooth and efficient activities. Confer with depots concerning vehicle needs and issues; etc.
vMonitor, evaluate and determine priority of vehicle maintenance, servicing and repair projects nationally; review the work of mechanics and other maintenance personnel to assure compliance with established standards.
vDirect of-site road maintenance, repair and recovery functions for roadside malfunctions.
vResearch and direct procurement of Company fleet; prepare vehicle specifications according to Company needs; co-ordinate the purchasing and assure optimal pricing and quality of vehicles for the Company, etc.
