SUMMARY:
Estimator required for Electrical Contractor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Scope & General Purpose:
The Estimator is responsible for determining the total cost of a construction project

DUTIES :

Read and understand tender documentation in conjunction with supplied electrical layouts/drawings and site/construction plans
Studying & understanding the tender specific requirements & site conditions (using tender & site plans)
Requesting additional information from consulting engineers regarding site specific conditions in order to ensure comprehensive/accurate quotations
Assessing all site specific technical & structural aspects carefully
Tender completion (includes tender documentation, Bill of Quantities, various other pertinent tender documentation)
Breakdown of costs for quotation purposes (per structure, per area, per building) as required
Follow up on tenders & quotations right up to order stage.
After order stage, advising contracts managers of site-specific requirements and assisting with technical knowledge
Liaise with clients and consulting engineers on various issues that arise, throughout the installation process, to ensure smooth completion of projects
Able to read and understand drawings & designs
Able to effectively communicate with consulting engineers

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Mature, technically minded individual with experience in completing large scale tenders and bill of quantities
Electrical contracting experience is an advantage
Must have previous dedicated estimating experience (2 - 5 years) and be able to read and take off accurate measurements from electrical plans and designs
Experience on large construction projects in an estimating or project manager position (an advantage)
Able to absorb knowledge from SANS or other codes of practice
Be prepared to sign a stringent restraint of trade clause
Own vehicle essential (may be required to attend site meetings etc.)
