The Role: Earthmoving / Diesel Mechanic
The Earthmoving / Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and fault finding of earthmoving and diesel-powered equipment. This role exists to ensure maximum equipment availability, reliability, and safety through structured planned maintenance and efficient breakdown response. The main focus areas include hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities

Utilize a minimum of 3 years post-trade experience to perform breakdown maintenance on earthmoving and diesel-powered equipment.

Carry out planned and preventative maintenance in accordance with company and OEM standards.

Conduct accurate fault finding and diagnostics on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Requisition parts and materials required for repairs and ensure correct identification of spare parts.

Complete all paperwork related to repairs, services, and inspections accurately and timeously.

Maintain service records and provide feedback on breakdowns with Earthmoving Equipment teams.

Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations to ensure equipment is safe and compliant.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.
About You
-
Minimum of 3 years post-trade experience.

Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate (Mandatory).

National Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
-
Valid Driver’s License.

Engineering N2 passed in a related field of trade.

Proven experience working with Earthmoving Equipment (EME).

Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Ability to work under pressure during breakdown situations and work overtime, standby, or shifts.
