Purpose Of The Job:
 
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dealership Accountant Assistant to join the team in Durban. The successful candidate will support the dealership accountant with financial administration, debtors and creditors management, cashbook processing, and general ledger reconciliations. The ideal individual will have experience in dealership or motor industry accounting and must be comfortable handling high volumes of data and administrative duties in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
Administration Support

• Perform general administrative tasks including filing, scanning, document management, and data entry
• Assist with internal and external audit preparations and document collation
• Maintain and update financial records as required

• Process daily customer receipts and allocate payments to appropriate accounts
• Follow up on outstanding customer accounts and send statements/invoices
• Liaise with the sales and service departments to resolve account queries
• Assist with month-end debtor reconciliations

• Capture supplier invoices accurately and timeously
• Match purchase orders to invoices and investigate discrepancies
• Prepare supplier reconciliations and resolve account queries
• Assist with preparing payment batches

• Capture and reconcile daily bank transactions
• Prepare daily bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
• Monitor and report on cash flow and variances

• Assist with the monthly reconciliation of GL accounts
• Maintain accurate journal entries and supporting documentation
• Assist with intercompany account reconciliations and postings

• Provide full support to the dealership accountant for financial reporting and compliance
• Assist with preparation of monthly management reports and schedules
• Support the month-end and year-end close process
• Handle any other finance-related tasks as delegated by the accountant

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar finance support role within a motor dealership is essential
• BCom in Accounting Essential

• Strong understanding of debtors, creditors, and cashbook systems
• Proficient in Excel and dealership accounting software (e.g., Kerridge, Automate, or similar)
• Excellent numerical and reconciliation skills
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• 8am to 5pm working hours
• Motor Industry experience ESSENTIAL!
