E & I Engineer (Heavy Industrial Manufacturing)

SUMMARY:
A leading heavy industrial manufacturing operation in KZN is seeking an experienced E & I Engineer to lead its Electrical & Instrumentation function, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient plant operations.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Electrical & Instrumentation teams and drive operational excellence
• Manage maintenance, reliability and plant availability
• Ensure reliability of power generation, process control and critical utilities
• Oversee electrical, instrumentation, automation and protection systems
• Manage budgets, shutdowns, maintenance planning, projects and spares
• Drive continuous improvement and capital projects
• Monitor asset performance, maintenance effectiveness and operational KPIs
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and statutory requirements

Minimum Requirements

• BTech/BSc in Electrical Engineering – Heavy Current
• Government Certificate of Competency (Factories)
• Completed Engineer-in-Training (EIT) programme
• Minimum 5 years experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing or engineering environments
• Strong experience in maintenance management, asset reliability and condition-based monitoring
• Knowledge of planned maintenance systems and best practices
• Strong electrical/instrumentation fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Proven leadership and people management experience
• Experience in power generation and/or sugar industry will be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, substations, transformers, automation, instrumentation and HV systems
• Good understanding of safety, statutory compliance and risk management
