SUMMARY:
Client based in Johannesburg seeks the services of District Sales Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa will help build and develop a sales team in the Sub-Saharan region thanks to your strong entrepreneurial and self-starter spirit. Working remotely and traveling about 60% of your time. Your main responsibility will be to sell and promote the Gates Mechanical Power Transmission product lines within the district. You will also be expected to work closely with the rest of the African team in charge of our Fluid Power solutions. This position is critical to Gates as you will ensure that district sales budgets and objectives are achieved in the area, thus positively impacting the financial performance of the district for Power Transmission. You will develop and maintain sound customer and prospect relationships and have decision-making authority within established guidelines, policies, and budgets

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsibilities:
  • Developing and executing growth strategies for both existing accounts as well as new prospective customers by regularly visiting all customers and solving commercial and technical issues
  • Pursuing opportunities to expand our business in new markets
  • Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments within our target markets
  • Updating on a timely and accurate manner our CRM systems
  • Preparing visit reports, call reports, monthly reports, and any other administrative requirements
  • Providing top-quality, Gates customer service for all clients and prospects.
Qualification & experience:
  • At least 10 years of experience in a commercial function, ideally within a mechanical, power transmission, or related field
  • Extensive exposure to the African Industrial market is a must
  • Engineering and/or technical degree preferred
  • Strong business acumen and commercial drive, with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to use Company's technical data to make drive calculations and recommendations
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, organize activities and work, and follow-up accordingly
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and able to work and make decisions with limited guidelines and direction
  • Fluent in English and working proficiently in French. Portuguese and African languages are an advantage
