SUMMARY:
A leading commercial solar energy business is expanding and is looking for a Junior Solar Design Engineer to join its dynamic engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified Electrical Engineer or someone with 1–3 years' experience who is looking to build a career in the fast-growing renewable energy sector. You'll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from initial system design and modelling through to commissioning, while working alongside an experienced team on exciting commercial solar projects.

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys solving technical problems and has a passion for engineering.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

Design commercial solar PV systems using AutoCAD.
Support the sales team with preliminary system designs and proposals.
Produce detailed engineering drawings including:
- Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
- Panel Layouts
- Stringing Layouts
- Bonding Layouts
- Inverter Layouts
- Earthing Layouts
Perform PV system modelling and yield analysis using PVSyst (or similar).
Conduct site visits to take measurements and gather technical information.
Design rooftop, carport and ground-mounted solar systems.
Support project delivery and commissioning.
Assist with project management when required.

Requirements

BEng or BTech in Electrical Engineering.
Newly qualified or 1–3 years' experience in Solar PV design.
Experience designing commercial solar systems.
Proficient in AutoCAD.
Experience using PVSyst or a similar solar simulation tool.
Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) would be advantageous.
Strong attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
