DIGITAL PRINT TECHNICIAN

POSITION INFO:

RedCat Recruitment is urgently seeking an experienced DIGITAL PRINT TECHNICIAN for a well-established concern, position based in Durban – KwaZulu-Natal.

REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 / NQF 4 qualification or equivalent.

Valid driver’s license / own reliable vehicle.

Vocational training / Diploma in Graphic Design, Printing Technology, or a related field is preferred.

Strong computer skills (MS Office, Email / Internet) (intermediate to advanced knowledge).

Previous experience in a DTP or print production environment.

Expertise in industry-standard software is essential, particularly the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Familiarity with specialized prepress and workflow software, such as RIP software, or Flexisign, Caldera or Wasatch, is often needed. A strong understanding of different file formats (PDF, TIFF, EPS), file preparation, and colour management.

Responsible for all the processes and procedures that occur between the creation of a print layout and the final printing.  This includes preparing digital files and materials for the printing process, ensuring that all text, images, and layouts are correctly formatted and meet quality standards, setting up machinery for different print jobs as well as monitoring the print job.  Acts as a final quality control checkpoint before a job goes to the press, working with designers, coordinators and press operators to ensure a high-quality final product.

Person must be willing to work shifts and overtime if required.

Person must be physically strong (will be required to repair large format printers).
