DIESEL MECHANIC - TURFFONTEIN RACECOURSE

REQUIREMENTS:

• Matric or equivalent
• Trade test
• 5 years’ experience in repairing heavy motor vehicles, TLB machinery, front end loader and grade machinery
• Experience in repairing agricultural equipment e.g. tractor
• Experience in repairing horticultural equipment e.g. mower
• Relevant Diesel Mechanic qualification and exposure
• Basic health and safety knowledge
• Basic facility maintenance skills
• Ability to work outside of business hours and weekends especially for breakdowns

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Service, repair and maintenance of all tractors and plant equipment;
• Ensure the cleaning of equipment and the workshop environment;
• Assist is procuring the workshop equipment parts;
• Organise and make equipment readily available for the tracks projects and scarify/spring treatment;
• Prioritize tracks equipment and other;
• Overseer the water pump, irrigation, and sewerage pumps;
• Provide mechanical expertise on equipment and vehicles during annual turf spring treatment;
• Repairs and the service of the starting stall;
• Attend to breakdowns during the day and after working hours;
• Maintain service and repair all night race generators;
• Electrical fault finding and repairs;
• Accurately interpret diagnostic test results on machinery;
•  Develop maintenance and service plan for the equipment and vehicles;
• Perform daily inspections of all equipment and vehicles, to identify and replace worn parts;
• Analyse problems and identify appropriate spare parts and materials to be used;
• Maintain records of all mechanical work undertaken on the plant equipment and vehicles;
• Reporting all health, safety, and environment safety concerns in the workshop;
• Follow health, safety and environment standards and complies with diesel mechanic standard; and
• Live up to 4Racing professional standards.
