Creditors & Collections Control Manager - Randburg

SUMMARY:
Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Credit and Collections Control Manager based in Jhb North.

POSITION INFO:

This position will report into the Financial Manager and CEO.

Minimum Skills & Experience Requirements:

• 5–8 years’ experience in credit control, debt collections or financial operations with a large number of accounts
• Proven experience with high-volume payment allocations and bank reconciliations
• Strong financial administration and control discipline
• Demonstrated experience working with External Debt Collectors or Legal Collections Partners
• Ability to manage escalations, disputes and reconciliation complexity
• Experience operating in a regulated or compliance-sensitive environment
• Advanced Excel / systems capability (allocations tracking, reporting, data analysis, pivot tables, reconciliation analysis)
• Experience on Swordfish would be advantageous
• Management experience as the role supervises 2 experienced Collections Agents

• BCom Accounting / Financial Management
• Credit Management Certification (ICM) would be advantageous
• Experience in collections restructuring, or high-risk collections environments

Key Responsibilities:

A. Financial Control & Allocations

• Daily payment allocations and verification against bank statements
• Exception handling (unidentified payments, partial payments, reversals)
• Allocation cut-off control to ensure agents work from accurate arrears data
• Oversight of refunds and customer repayment processing 

B. External Debt Collector (EDC) Coordination

• Daily/weekly handover of accounts to EDC
• Monitoring recovery performance and disputes
• Managing escalations, recalls, and customer queries
• Ensuring SLA adherence and data integrity 

C. Internal Early-Stage Collections Oversight

• Supervision of a reduced internal team (±2 direct reports)
• Focus on customers current to two months in arrears
• Preventing unnecessary escalation to legal collections 

D. Reporting & Risk Management

• Daily arrears movement reporting
• Weekly collections performance reporting
• Identification and escalation of systemic risks
• Maintenance of SOPs and contingency planning
