Credit Controller

POSITION INFO:

Accurately issue credit notes after verifying claims, maintaining a strong focus on detail and compliance
Update customer information in financial systems, including payment terms, discounts, and contractual agreements
Ensure monthly statements are distributed to clients within set deadlines
Track customer payments to ensure they align with agreed credit terms and remain within approved limits
Withhold discounts from clients who fail to meet payment deadlines
Process daily incoming payments and ensure accurate recording
Provide requested documentation such as invoices and delivery confirmations to customers as needed.
Respond promptly to queries from clients via phone or email, and ensure all issues are resolved efficiently
Reconcile customer accounts regularly to maintain accuracy and completeness
Actively pursue overdue payments and maintain communication with defaulting customers
Alert the sales team when a client’s account is on hold or suspended
Ensure customer remittance advices are received on time each month
Participate in weekly debtors’ reviews with the Finance Manager, discussing outstanding accounts and risks
Notify the Finance Manager of any accounts showing signs of risk or non-payment
Obtain prior approval before suspending accounts or setting up alternative payment arrangements
Confirm any rebate updates in writing from the sales team before applying changes
Be ready to assist with the responsibilities of fellow credit controllers when required
Carry out other finance-related tasks and projects as directed
 
Skills & Experience:
Experience working with stock (retail hardware sector experience is essential)
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
Proactive, positive attitude with strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in MS Word, Excel (especially pivot tables), and Outlook
Experience with accounting software (Acumatica experience is a plus)

Qualification:
Matric
Relevant tertiary education advantageous
