SUMMARY:

To assist in the pro-activeness and on-going implementation and management of good international practices for Country Risk and Financial Institutions risk management for the company.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

JOB DESCRIPTION

To assist in enhancing Country Risk and Financial Institutions policies, systems and procedures and management processes for the company,
Undertaking primary rating of counterparties (Countries and FIs) and propose overrides;
To support in submitting annual review reports and undertaking monthly / quarterly portfolio reporting to relevant committees;
To assist in formulating, reviewing and managing Africa limits and/or exposure in alignment with the company Africa strategy, Risk Appetite and/or emerging risks,
To provide support on the on-going and pro-active monitoring and reporting of Country / FI risks within the company including watch listing and/or removal from watch list of counterparties;
Provide country risk commentary on cross-border transactions.
Work collaboratively with relevant divisions and assisting in the development of differentiated and superior solutions that meet business and risk requirements;
To support in providing expert solutioning capability for complex transactions in area of responsibility;
To assist in ensuring effective implementation of set of strategic objectives for the cluster;
To assist in implementing processes that have been reviewed to attain best international practices;
Implement approved methods and ways of mitigating capital allocated for cross-border exposure;
Ensuring adherence to good corporate governance and compliance in line with policies;
To assist in maintaining, reviewing and updating all policies related to area, ensuring the company does not lag other lenders in the adoption of global changes to relevant risk management practices;
Constantly scan market for regulatory and policy developments that would impact company lending in various markets.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or Commerce
Financial Economics and/or Accounting courses will be an added advantage;
A least 5 years’ work experience in similar role within a Financial Institution.
