Counter/Internal Sales Person Hardware & Building (Sandton, Johannesburg) R10,000 - R15,000 PM

POSITION INFO:

Company who specialises in building products seeks a Counter Sales person to help walk in customers and also sell products to existing clients telephonically and bring in new business. You will need to understand the metric system (mm, cm, m) and be able to solve basic arithmetic challenges, you will need excellent excel and be able to put together a good sales pitch. Ideally from a DIY, Hardware, balding wholesaler. You must have worked where measurements and accuracy is required, with steel and paint.

The position main aim is to generate sales, is to effectively manage the inventory, admin process and Maintenance of company procedures. The incumbent should be an honest, reliable, organised and precise attention to detail a prerequisite. There is a certain amount of physical work, so you will need to be healthy and fit i.e. you might need to carry a door frame you have sold cross counter to a client from stores to reception. You will be required to assesses competitors by analysing and summarizing competitor information and trends; identifying sales opportunities, develop sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts; soliciting new accounts; building rapport; providing technical information and explanations; preparing quotations, close new accounts by answering telephone, fax, and e-mail inquiries; verifying and entering information, fill orders by transferring orders to fulfilment; communicating expected delivery date; explaining stock-outs, develop accounts by checking customer''s buying history; suggesting related and new items; explaining technical features and update you knowledge by studying new product descriptions; participating in educational opportunities. Min Matric (Maths & Science) and 2 years relevant working experience in Build, building supplier, hardware or construction industry. Must speak English and Afrikaans and have own car. Proficiency in MS excel & Word, some experience in an accounting system (ERP, SYSPRO, PASTEL, ADEPT, SAP) and Excellent sound verbal & written communication skills a prerequisite.

Good Interpersonal skills & able to work with management & staff at all levels.
