A well-established and fast-paced organisation within the manufacturing sector is looking to appoint a skilled Cost Accountant to join their finance team based in City Deep, Johannesburg.

This role is ideal for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in an operational environment and has a solid understanding of product costing and inventory management.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate product costing, maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs), monitoring Work-in-Progress (WIP), and providing valuable cost insights to support business decision-making and profitability.
This opportunity is perfectly suited to a candidate with strong analytical skills and hands-on experience in a manufacturing, retail, or construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain accurate product costing models
Manage and update Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Monitor and analyse Work-in-Progress (WIP) balances
Perform variance analysis and identify cost-saving opportunities
Support budgeting, forecasting, and inventory valuation
Analyse raw material, labour, and overhead costs
Assist with month-end reporting and management accounts
Ensure costing integrity and compliance with internal controls

Job Experience & Qualifications:

BCom degree essential
CIMA qualification (completed or in progress) required
4–5 years of relevant Cost Accounting experience
Strong exposure to costing, BOM, and WIP (non-negotiable)
Experience within manufacturing is essential; retail or construction exposure is advantageous
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
