Conveyancing Secretary

Location: Kempton Park, Gauteng

Employment Type: Full-time

Law firm is seeking an experienced and highly competent Conveyancing Secretary to join a busy legal practice in Kempton Park. The successful candidate must have strong, hands-on experience managing bond registrations from inception to completion and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Requirements

• 3–5+ years’ relevant conveyancing secretarial experience

• Extensive bond registration experience is essential and non-negotiable

• Must have practical experience working with all four major South African banks:

  • ABSA

  • Nedbank

  • First National Bank (FNB)

  • Standard Bank

• Ability to manage matters from instruction/inception through to registration and finalisation

• Strong understanding of the full bond registration process

• Experience with property transfers will be beneficial, but is not essential

• Must be able to work independently and manage a caseload effectively

• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

• Good communication and follow-up skills

• Must be comfortable liaising with clients, banks, attorneys, estate agents and other relevant parties

• Own reliable transport is essential

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full bond registration process from start to finish

• Receive and process bond instructions from financial institutions

• Open and maintain files and ensure all required documentation is obtained

• Prepare and process bond registration documentation

• Liaise with all relevant parties throughout the transaction

• Attend to bank requirements and ensure compliance with bank procedures

• Monitor outstanding documentation and follow up on delays

• Prepare matters for lodgement and registration

• Track matters through the various stages of the conveyancing process

• Attend to queries and provide regular updates to clients and relevant stakeholders

• Ensure matters are accurately updated and progressed through to completion

• Maintain accurate filing and administrative records
