HIRING: Conveyancing Paralegal / Junior Attorney

About the Opportunity
An established, market-leading national conveyancing group is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Conveyancing Paralegal or Junior Attorney to join their fast-paced Pietermaritzburg office.
This role is strictly conveyancing-focused and offers direct exposure to high-volume property transactions, supported by cutting-edge legal technology and mentorship from senior practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
File Management & Drafting: Full end-to-end management of residential, commercial, and sectional title transfers from contract to registration. Prepare mortgage bond documentation for all major retail banks.
Clearances & Registrations: Facilitate municipal rates clearances (Msunduzi Municipality), HOA clearances, and obtain SARS transfer duty certificates via eFiling.
Deeds Office Execution: Prepare lodging covers, monitor daily stages (Lodging $\rightarrow$ Prep $\rightarrow$ Execution), and assist in resolving examiner requisitions/notes at the Pietermaritzburg Deeds Office.
Client & Stakeholder Communication: Maintain real-time communication with estate agents, buyers, sellers, bank representatives, and conveyancers.
Financial & Compliance: Manage FICA verification, calculate fee estimates, perform rates prorations, and coordinate final accounts.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Admitted Attorney with a conveyancing focus OR a recognized Conveyancing Paralegal Diploma/Certificate (e.g., GMLS).
Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience handling property transfers and bond registrations within a South African law firm. Prior experience with Pietermaritzburg Deeds Office procedures is highly advantageous.
Software: Proficiency in conveyancing software (GhostConvey, LegalSuite, LexisConvey, or WinDeed) and bank portals.
Skills: Exceptional drafting accuracy, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage high volumes in a deadline-driven environment.
