POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a passionate Conservation Facilitator / Guide to support environmental and youth development programmes in the Hoedspruit area.
This is not a traditional safari guiding role. While a guiding qualification is required, the position focuses on
conservation project facilitation, environmental education, volunteer management, and expedition support in a
remote wilderness setting.
Candidate Responsibilities:
- Facilitate conservation activities (wildlife monitoring, bush clearing, erosion control, etc.)
- Lead and supervise volunteer groups
- Deliver environmental education sessions
- Ensure participant safety and wellbeing
- Assist with camp logistics and daily operations
- Support conservation data collection and reporting
- Uphold Raleigh programme standards and values
Core Criteria:
- FGASA Level 1 minimum
- Valid PDP
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Experience in guiding, conservation, or environmental education
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Comfortable in remote, rustic environments
- Experience working with youth or volunteer groups
- Knowledge of local ecology and conservation practices
- Practical bush or maintenance skills
This is a live-in position
Applicants must be comfortable living and working in rustic, off-grid conditions including tents, cold showers,
basic communal living, physically demanding work, and supporting wider expedition operations where needed
(including community projects and camp duties)
