Conference and Events Manager

SUMMARY:
High end-to-end planning and execution of a wide range of events and conferences.

POSITION INFO:

We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Conference & Events Manager with a proven track record in large-scale luxury hotel events and conferencing to lead one of our busiest and most dynamic departments. You will oversee the end-to-end planning and execution of a wide range of events, from high-profile international conferences, corporate functions, and board meetings to luxury weddings, gala dinners, and social occasions. This role requires a practical leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, inspires a high-performing team, and ensures flawless delivery of every luxury event.

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ management experience in luxury hotel events, conferencing, or banqueting, with strong operational expertise

• Degree or diploma in hospitality management or related field (advantageous)

• Proven commercial skills with the ability to grow revenue and manage budgets

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational abilities

• Guest-focused, with the ability to build and maintain strong client and agency relationships

• Proficiency in MS Office, Opera PMS, and event management software

• Must hold a valid South African ID

• Key competencies: Operational excellence, team leadership, client relationship management, financial acumen, problem-solving, and adaptability

Duties & Responsibilities

• Source, secure, and manage new events and conferencing business to maximise departmental revenue

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, agencies, and stakeholders

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee the execution of all luxury events and conferences, ensuring operational readiness and attention to detail

• Personally oversee high-profile and VIP events to guarantee flawless delivery

• Ensure Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) are accurate and fully implemented across all departments

• Lead, coach, and motivate the Meetings & Events team; manage recruitment, training, and performance development

• Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and guest-centric excellence

• Act as the main point of contact for clients throughout the event journey, anticipating needs and resolving issues promptly

• Maintain world-class service standards, venue presentation, and adherence to health & safety protocols

• Monitor departmental budgets, forecasts, invoicing, supplier management, and operational costs to ensure profitability

• Implement feedback-driven improvements to continually enhance guest satisfaction and operational efficiency
