At The President Hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town, our kitchen brings creativity, precision and teamwork together to create memorable dining experiences.
As we continue our journey toward luxury, we are looking for a Commis Chef with at least 2 years of professional kitchen experience, ideally within a busy 4-star or 5-star hotel, restaurant or high-volume culinary operation.

POSITION INFO:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Matric Certificate (Grade 12).
Recognised Culinary qualification is essential.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a professional kitchen.
Previous Commis Chef experience in a hotel, restaurant or high-volume kitchen is preferred.
Experience within a busy 4-star or 5-star hotel is advantageous.
Good knowledge of food preparation, basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
Understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards.
Ability to follow recipes, portion controls and presentation standards accurately.
Ability to work effectively in a busy kitchen, including shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Professional grooming and a disciplined approach to work.
South African ID or valid work permit.
Fully updated CV.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with food preparation and cooking across kitchen sections.
Prepare mise en place and support senior chefs during service.
Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation standards consistently.
Maintain clean, organised workstations and follow food safety and HACCP procedures.
Assist with stock rotation, correct storage and minimising food waste.
Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service.
Develop your culinary skills through exposure to different sections and techniques.
