SUMMARY:
A luxury hospitality establishment in the Dinokeng area, Gauteng, is seeking a dedicated and eager COMMIS CHEF to join their kitchen team.
This is a foundational kitchen role for a motivated culinary professional who takes pride in their work, maintains high standards of cleanliness and organisation, and is eager to grow their skills alongside an experienced team in a four to five-star environment.

POSITION INFO:
Core Criteria:

Diploma in Culinary Arts or similar qualification from a recognised institution
Minimum 3 years' experience working in a four or five-star environment
Strong knowledge of food hygiene, sanitation, and health and safety procedures
Understanding of FIFO stock rotation principles and correct food storage practices
Safe and competent handling of knives and kitchen equipment
Neat, well-presented, and professional in appearance at all times
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Reliable, hardworking, and a strong team player

Core Responsibilities:

Assist senior chefs with food preparation and cooking tasks across multiple kitchen stations
Wash, peel, chop, and cut fruits and vegetables to the required specification
Assist senior chefs in preparing salads, starters, and other menu components
Maintain a clean, organised, and sanitary workstation at all times
Handle all knives and kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
Assist with receiving stock deliveries, checking quality and quantity against orders
Ensure correct FIFO stock rotation and maintain clean, neat freezers, fridges, and dry store areas
Assist with cleaning workstations, kitchen tools, and general kitchen areas throughout all service periods
Ensure full compliance with all health and safety procedures at all times

5 days on / 2 days off work cycle
