SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:
Our client is an established, short-term insurance brokerage based in Westville, KwaZulu-Natal. Known for their professionalism and commitment to client service, they specialize in providing comprehensive and tailored risk solutions to commercial clients.

As a Commercial Underwriter you will be responsible for administering commercial policies, assessing risks, and delivering exceptional technical underwriting support to maintain a high-quality portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end underwriting process for new commercial business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
Assess and evaluate commercial risks in strict alignment with insurer mandates and company guidelines.
Interpret, apply, and explain complex commercial policy wordings accurately to clients and stakeholders.
Ensure all transactions and records comply fully with regulatory requirements, including FAIS and FICA.
Liaise professionally with insurers, brokers, and clients to resolve underwriting queries and secure optimal outcomes.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records on the underwriting system.

Requirements

4 - 5 years of experience specializing in Short-Term Commercial Underwriting.
NQF Level 4 Qualification in Short-Term Insurance (minimum 150 credits).
RE5 (Regulatory Exam 5) Certificate is mandatory.
Completed Class of Business (COB) training for Commercial Lines.
Completed product-specific training.
Hands-on experience and proficiency using Cardinal or Flexi software.
Excellent command of English with a strong fluency in interpreting commercial policy wordings.

Remuneration
R30,000 – R35,000 per month (dependent on experience)
