Commercial Sales Assistant

SUMMARY:
CIB is a Short Term Insurance UMA with more than 25 years experience in developing value adding relationships and delivering service excellence. We are on the lookout for an experienced Commercial Sales Assistant to join our Sales team.

POSITION INFO:
The main purpose of the Commercial Sales Assistant is to assist the Portfolio Managers by responding to new business leads, quoting on new business, assisting with quote amendment requests, ad hoc processing of commercial new business, and loading new business onto the System

Minimum experience and qualifications:

• Matric
• FETC (Further Education & Training Certificate) in Short Term Insurance – NQF 4 (150 credits)
• Higher Certificate in Short Term Insurance – NQF 5 or higher – highly advantageous
• Successfully passed RE 1 (Representative Exam)
• Computer literate – Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Exposure to, or work experience on the TIAL Operating System (System A) – highly advantageous
• Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant short-term insurance policy wording (Commercial Lines)
• Minimum two years relevant work experience in short term insurance sales (Commercial Lines)

• Commercial Quoting, amendments, process and issue new business and other admin duties
• Communicating and negotiating rates and premiums with brokers
• Evaluating and validating client’s previous loss ratio and credit history 
• Sending policy confirmations
• Maintaining efficient turn-around times
• Ensure adherence to prescribed underwriting criteria
• Compilation of closings
• Development of value adding relationships with brokers and internal staff
• Attaining individual and departmental sales targets 
• Liaising with the Portfolio Managers in following up on quotes and new business 
• Liaising with Technical Sales Manager on technical issues
