SUMMARY:
Position Summary
The Working Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for leading a roving cleaning team (ranging from 1 to 3 staff) assigned to perform scheduled and ad hoc deep cleaning at retail bank branches and offsite ATM facilities. The supervisor will actively participate in cleaning duties while ensuring that the team adheres to service standards, client expectations, and health and safety protocols. The position requires daily travel from site to site, route planning, client liaison, and the ability to manage and motivate staff in a mobile working environment.
POSITION INFO:
Key Accountabilities/ Principal Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Supervise and work alongside the cleaning team, providing daily direction and support.
Conduct briefings at the start of each day or shift to outline site-specific tasks and safety protocols.
Encourage teamwork, professionalism, and high morale across the team.
Inspections and Quality Control
Perform quality checks on completed cleaning tasks to ensure adherence to standards.
Address sub-standard performance and provide guidance for improvement.
Keep documented records of inspections and corrective actions taken.
Stock and Equipment Management
Manage and track usage of cleaning materials and consumables.
Requisition and collect stock and equipment from stores or designated points.
Ensure safe storage, transport, and usage of supplies.
Attendance and Scheduling
Ensure punctual attendance and performance of team members.
Plan site routes and daily schedules to maximize time and fuel efficiency.
Manage unplanned changes due to absenteeism, emergencies, or schedule updates.
Client Liaison
Serve as the first point of contact for branch or site representatives.
Capture and relay client concerns, special requests, or service issues to management.
Maintain a courteous and professional relationship with all client representatives.
Reporting to Management
Submit daily or weekly reports on cleaning tasks completed, challenges encountered, and team performance.
Communicate operational updates, incidents, and feedback to line management promptly.
Training and Development
Support onboarding and practical training of new team members.
Reinforce cleaning methods, use of equipment, and safety procedures.
Identify knowledge gaps and recommend training interventions to management.
Health and Safety Compliance
Ensure all work is done in accordance with company and site-specific safety regulations.
Report incidents, accidents, and hazards immediately.
Promote safe use of chemicals, PPE, and cleaning machinery.
Key Skills and Experience
Grade 10 minimum; Grade 12 advantageous
Minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial or contract cleaning
Previous experience in a team leader or supervisory role essential
Experience in mobile/roving teams and exposure to banking environments preferred
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Practical knowledge of cleaning chemicals, tools, and methods
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
Attention to detail and strong work ethic
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Route planning and time management ability
Unendorsed Code 8 (B) Driver’s Licence – essential
Able and willing to travel daily across designated sites
