SUMMARY:
Category Manager (Johannesburg)

POSITION INFO:

The main function of this position is responsible for all aspects of category management, including identification of product from supplier, successfully bringing the product to market, and ensuring product profitability and Return on Investment (ROI).

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

vManage sales team for improving sales of a specific category of products.

vDevelop selling strategies based on which company’s competitive and success elements.

vResponsible for the pricing and overall promotion of a product category to maximize consumer appeal.

vAssist in coordinating and executing the business tactics for development, marketing, and sales of the products in the category.

vDevelop and execute category plans to meet revenue goals.

vManage inventory levels and stock age to maximise sales.

vAssist in preparing capital budget plan and expense management goals.

vResponsible for making changes to the product line to increase profit margin.

vRespond to customer’s queries about new products.

vImplement monthly promotional strategies to achieve sales goals.

vNegotiate price changes with vendors and inform the changes to relevant departments of the organization.

vAnalyse customer requirements and develop product promotions to drive sales.

vAddress customer queries and concerns in a timely fashion.

vPerform customer negotiations and determine new customer contract terms.

vStay updated on industry trends and market competitions.

vAttend industry events and trade shows for promoting company products.

Key Educational Requirements and Qualifications:

vBachelor degree in Marketing or Supply Chain Management or similar is recommended.

vAt least 5 years’ experience in Retail and Marketing is a MUST.

vStrong knowledge of electrical products.

vExperience / Knowledge of the K8 System and Netstock would be an advantage.

vStrong knowledge of computer software packages and MS Office.

vKnowledge and understanding of the procurement processes, laws and legislations.

vAdvanced knowledge of marketing principles and pricing strategies.

vKnowledge of market conditions and competitor products.

vDrivers licence is a MUST.
