Category Manager

SUMMARY:
New year, new opportunities!! One of our FMCG multinational clients has an opportunity for a seasoned category manager. You will be responsible for managing the general procurement, value added packaging and point of sale items for Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) which includes guiding the Marketing, Sales, and POS warehouse team on the continuous improvement of processes and reporting. POSITION INFO:

The Ideal Candidate

• Must have at least 5 years’ experience in a procurement specialist environment with a proven history of managing supplier partnerships
• Procurement and tender experience is essential
• A proven track record of influencing key internal and external stakeholders
• Experience in the FMCG industry dealing with international brands - advantageous

Duties Include:

• Responsible for Classification of all components within the VAP, POS and General Procurement Category including supplier identification, selection and Relationship Management
• Sourcing and developing innovative VAPS and Point of Sale and Trading Items in line with Brand Plans and Sales Initiatives
• Compiling a Preferred Supplier List per Category per Region which is updated annually
• Liaising with external suppliers as well as with Marketing, Trade Marketing, Sales, POS Warehouses and Finance departments internally
• Responsible for continuous improvement of the End to End Value Added Packaging, Point Of Sale Items, Integrated Business Planning as well as new product development
• Development and implementation of Monthly Reports for the VAP Category
• Providing staff management and leadership to Team to ensure individual, team and business objectives are achieved

Qualifications

Degree in supply chain/logistic/procurement – non neg

CIPS is preferred
