POSITION INFO:

Cashier – Hardware Store

Position Summary:
Our client a Trusted Retailer in the Hardware Sector are looking for a trustworthy and customer-focused Cashier with at least 2 years’ retail cashier experience to join our hardware store team. The successful candidate will handle transactions accurately while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately process customer purchases using the POS system
Handle cash, card, EFT, and account payments
Issue receipts, refunds, and exchanges according to store policy
Reconcile and balance cash drawer daily
Assist customers with product queries and basic hardware advice
Direct customers to the correct aisles or departments
Maintain a neat and organized checkout area
Support with stock packing and merchandising when required
Report discrepancies or shortages to management

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 / Matric
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a cashier (hardware or retail environment preferred)
Basic computer and numeracy skills
Strong customer service skills
Honest, reliable, and well-presented
Willing to work weekends and public holidays

Ability to work under pressure
Good communication skills
Team player
