CNC Lathe Setter

POSITION INFO:
Our client is a well-established and reputable engineering company that delivers high-quality manufacturing solutions. Based in the industrial hub of New Germany, Durban, they are known for fostering a supportive team environment and promoting continuous improvement.

We are seeking a motivated, permanent CNC Lathe Setter to take charge of setting up and operating a KFM KT-200 CNC lathe. In this role, you will ensure high-quality production outputs by accurately configuring machinery, monitoring performance, and maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and work instructions for accurate machine setup.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes, manually configuring tooling, fixtures, and offsets for varying production runs.
• Load CNC programs and make minor adjustments to optimise machine performance.
• Inspect finished components using calipers, micrometers, and gauges, ensuring all results are accurately documented.
• Monitor machines during operation to identify quality issues early and report any non-conforming parts.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and maintain machine cleanliness.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Assist the team with secondary operations, part sorting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven, hands-on experience working as a machine setter (essential requirement).
• Demonstrated experience with CNC lathe setup and operation (experience with KFM KT-200 is highly advantageous).
• Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and quality control systems within a workshop environment.

Salary

• Up to R15 000 CTC per month (Including Provident Fund) depending on experience
