Calling all Buyers with experience in a manufacturing environment

POSITION INFO:

A well-established and reputable high volume manufacturing company based in Maitland, Cape Town is seeking to appoint a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join their Procurement team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated procurement professional with strong operational buying experience to contribute within a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate purchasing execution, supplier performance, and cost efficiency across multiple categories.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Essential)

• 3–5 years procurement/buying experience within a manufacturing or operational environment

• Solid understanding of the full purchasing lifecycle

• Experience working on SAP ERP (non-negotiable)

• Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas)

• Strong knowledge of RFQ processes and vendor selection

• Understanding of MOQ, lead times and inventory principles

• Fluency in English and Afrikaans (preferred)

• Must be Criminal Clear

• SA Citizens only

• Must reside in the Greater Cape Town area or be willing to relocate at your own cost

Advantageous

Relevant certification in Supply Chain or Purchasing

• Exposure to supplier performance management

• Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Procurement Execution

• Manage the end-to-end purchasing process (RFQs, quote comparisons, PO creation, expediting)

• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply terms

• Ensure accurate and timely purchase order processing

• Manage multiple categories independently

Supplier Management

• Support supplier selection and performance management

• Monitor on-time delivery performance

• Reduce invoice queries and resolve supplier issues proactively

• Maintain professional and ethical supplier relationships

Cost & Performance Control

• Drive cost savings initiatives

• Monitor MOQ, lead times, and inventory considerations

• Ensure PO accuracy and turnaround targets are achieved

• Support continuous improvement within procurement processes

Systems & Reporting

• Operate within SAP ERP system

• Use Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas) to analyse and manage purchasing data

• Maintain accurate records and system integrity
