Raw Material Steel Buyer required

POSITION INFO:

Qualification

Matric with Mathematics
Diploma in Procurement / Purchasing beneficial

Requirements

Computer Literate : Advanced skills in Excel and Syspro or BAAN
5 years steel buying experience – Various steel grades, sizes and types
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Able to read Engineering drawings (does not need to interpret just understand)
Mathematical and Analytical
Attention to detail
Good knowledge and relationship with various steel suppliers in the industry
Excellent written and spoken Communication skills in English

Duties

Knowledge of working with forecasts, credit notes, Supplier Non conformances
Excellent sourcing and negotiation skills
Must have knowledge of dealing with over sees suppliers and importing steel
Follow up on outstanding orders
Capture orders into system or confirm Syspro suggestions
Work closely with the planning team
Ensure stock is delivered on time and in full
Maintain a low stock level but ensure no run outs – Just in time ordering
Participate in weekly Cycle counts
