SUMMARY:
Seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist / Strategic Buyer to join our Supply Chain team in a newly created role. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of key raw materials and packaging inputs required for our flexible packaging manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier management, international procurement, import coordination, inventory optimization and cost management, with a particular focus on overseas procurement of raw materials including resins and related flexible packaging inputs.
This role requires a commercially astute procurement professional who understands manufacturing environments, international sourcing, supplier negotiations and supply chain risk management.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for key raw materials and packaging inputs.
• Source and procure materials from local and international suppliers.
• Manage procurement activities for imported raw materials, including resins, films, adhesives, inks and related manufacturing materials.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation and value engineering.
• Conduct supplier evaluations and benchmarking exercises.

Supplier Relationship Management

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Lead supplier negotiations relating to pricing, payment terms, lead times and service levels.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions where required.
• Identify and mitigate supply risks through supplier diversification and contingency planning.

Import & Export Coordination

• Manage procurement activities involving international suppliers and global supply chains.
• Coordinate import processes, shipping schedules, customs requirements and logistics activities.
• Work closely with freight forwarders, clearing agents and logistics providers.
• Ensure compliance with import regulations and company procurement policies.

Inventory & Supply Planning

• Collaborate with Planning, Operations and Warehouse teams to ensure material availability.
• Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock holdings while balancing working capital requirements.
• Support demand planning and material forecasting activities.
• Manage supply continuity and mitigate stock-out risks.

Commercial & Reporting

• Analyse procurement spend and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare procurement reports and supplier performance metrics.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cost management initiatives.
• Monitor commodity trends, foreign exchange impacts and market developments.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Commerce or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a strategic procurement, sourcing or buying role.
• Experience sourcing raw materials within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing international suppliers and import procurement activities.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Syspro or similar.
• Strong analytical and commercial acumen.
• Advanced Excel skills.
