SUMMARY:
The Business Development Consultant will be responsible for all due diligence linked to the on-boarding of new Broker Direct Partners, ensuring that all compliance & legislative elements pertaining to contracting, reporting, NDA’s and SLA’s adherence is executed timeously and accurately.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

ROLE OVERVIEW

This role fulfils the execution of strategic business development initiatives (new & existing) to improve future growth opportunities in the direct insurance market to ensure our competiveness and future market sustainability in the Broker Direct area for Dealer Brokers, Non-Traditional Insurance Brokers and potentially Dealerships. In addition, the Business Development Consultant WILL TAKE FULL ACCOUNTABILITY FOR IDENTIFYING NEW POTENTIAL BROKER DIRECT PARTNERS (DIRECT BROKERS, Non-Traditional Brokers and future Dealerships), maintaining good and solid relationships, to secure new partners, promoting the brand and product offerings for Personal & Commercial Insurance to achieve business growth targets set.

The Business Development Consultant will be responsible for all due diligence linked to the on-boarding of new Broker Direct Partners, ensuring that all compliance & legislative elements pertaining to contracting, reporting, NDA’s and SLA’s adherence is executed timeously and accurately. This role will also be responsible for maintaining strong business relationships with all Direct Partners in line with the company values, mission and vision strategy

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completed Matric
  • Relevant Insurance Qualification
  • Fais Compliant (RE)
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Five years relationship management experience
  • Experience in a Direct Short Term Insurance environment preferential
  • Minimum of 3 years Short Term Insurance experience essential

SKILLS

  • Microsoft Office – Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Guidewire, Sales Portal & Trans Union
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with partners
  • Ability to negotiate and conclude deals with Broker Direct partners
  • Technical insurance knowledge essential – Sales, Underwriting, QA, Rating and Loss Ratio (high level information).
  • Effective internal and external stakeholder management
  • Administration function in ensuring that contracts are in place, compliance & legislative requirements are being met and reporting to Broker Direct partners are timeous and value adding
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Problem solving skills

KEY PORTFOLIO AND PERFORMANCE FOCUS AREAS

  • Growing the book, stakeholder and relationship management
  • Achieve & maintain our Broker Direct strategy and deliver on targets (New Brokers on-boarded, Quotes & Sale volumes, GWP, Sale Conversion ratios and Loss ratio tracking)
  • Maintain a healthy business relationship at a strategic and operational level
  • Responsible for negotiating capacity and support from other teams within the company to support new and existing Broker Direct partners
  • Keep abreast of any developments within our partners and manage the portfolio of business through analysis, interpretation and decision making
  • Responsible for all Broker Direct contracting and adherence to any governance & legislative requirements. Also responsible for annual renewed contracting where required
  • Constant communication and pointers to the Business Development Manager in order to achieve targets, maintain relationships, adhere to any legislation changes etc. that may apply. 
  • Proactively identify operational or procedural obstacles & problems, determine impact patterns and trends analysis by identifying best fit alternatives design best practice solutions
  • Manage effective SLA’s with internal and external stakeholders
