Burger Cook
POSITION INFO:
A Burger Cook (also known as a Burger Maker, Burger Builder, or Line Cook) will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and assembling burgers, sandwiches, and related menu items in a fast-paced restaurant or food service environment. They will ensure that all food items meet company standards for quality, consistency, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Assembly: Grilling, frying, and cooking meat or plant-based patties, toasting buns, and dressing burgers with toppings (lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese) according to recipes.
- Operating Equipment: Safely using grills, fryers, flattops, and other kitchen equipment.
- Quality Control & Safety: Ensuring proper cooking temperatures, adhering to food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP), and keeping the workstation clean and organized.
- Speed & Efficiency: Preparing orders accurately and quickly, especially during busy peak hours.
- Stock Management: Resting, organizing, and properly storing ingredients.
- Collaboration: Working as part of a team to ensure smooth kitchen operations and, in some cases, assisting with customer service.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or fast-food role is preferred but not always required; many roles offer training for enthusiastic, fast-learning individuals.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, good time management, and basic math skills for portioning.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, walk, reach, and lift items.
- Certifications: Food handler''s certificate may be required.
