Bookkeeper - Trial Balance

SUMMARY:
Salt Rock. A successful infrastructure consulting services company is seeking a competent and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years’ bookkeeping experience, strong Sage proficiency, and the ability to work accurately up to trial balance level.

POSITION INFO:

• Process day-to-day financial transactions on Sage, including cashbook, debtors, creditors and journals
• Capture and allocate supplier and customer invoices, ensuring correct VAT treatment and cost allocation
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items
• Maintain debtors and creditors ledgers, including monthly age analysis and follow-ups
• Prepare and process month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and provisions
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
• Prepare monthly trial balances for management/accountant review
• Maintain accurate and traceable supporting documentation for audit purposes
• Assist with VAT calculations and preparation of VAT201 submissions
• Liaise with external accountants and auditors during reviews and year-end processes
• Maintain the fixed asset register and process depreciation entries
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards and statutory deadlines

• 3–5 years’ bookkeeping experience, preferably to trial balance level
• Proficiency in Sage is essential – Sage Business Cloud, Sage Pastel or Sage Evolution
• Relevant bookkeeping / accounting qualification advantageous
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and South African VAT legislation
• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and meet weekly and monthly deadlines
• Good communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with internal teams and external accountants
• Experience within property management, professional services or a similar industry advantageous
