Bookkeeper (Financial Reconstruction & Books to Trial Balance Project), Remote (South Africa), Fixed-Term Contract, R22,000 – R25,000 per month

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Bookkeeper to undertake a time-critical financial reconstruction project.

The successful candidate will reconstruct the company''s accounting records from 2022 to the present using bank statements and supporting documentation. This is a deadline-driven project requiring exceptional attention to detail, strong accounting knowledge, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture and process financial transactions from bank statements and supporting documents.
• Reconstruct accounting records from 2022 to the present.
• Accurately allocate transactions to the appropriate general ledger accounts.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare and maintain Books to Trial Balance.
• Produce monthly management reports and financial information.
• Liaise with the company''s accountant where required.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately and within agreed project deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years'' bookkeeping experience to Trial Balance.
• Demonstrated experience reconstructing accounting records from source documentation and bank statements.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage Accounting or QuickBooks Online.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to manage deadlines and prioritise workloads effectively.

Working Arrangement

• Fully remote position.
• Candidate must provide their own laptop/computer.
• Reliable fibre/Wi-Fi internet connection is essential.
• Own cellphone required.
• UPS or inverter will be advantageous to ensure uninterrupted productivity.
