SUMMARY:
Automotive Electrician 
Location: Northern Cape – Kuruman / Hotazel

An opportunity exists for a skilled Automotive Electrician within a leading mining operation in the Northern Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the reliability of heavy earthmoving equipment in a demanding opencast mining environment.

POSITION INFO:

Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform breakdown maintenance on heavy earthmoving equipment
• Carry out planned maintenance activities as per schedule
• Conduct fault finding and electrical diagnostics on mining machinery
• Repair and replace faulty electrical components and systems
• Complete job cards and maintenance documentation accurately
• Requisition required parts and follow up on breakdowns

Technical Operations

• Install, inspect, and maintain electrical systems on mining equipment
• Diagnose and repair wiring, sensors, alternators, and starter systems
• Ensure optimal performance of equipment through preventative maintenance

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere strictly to all mine health and safety regulations
• Apply lockout and isolation procedures at all times
• Maintain safe working standards in line with site requirements

 Housekeeping

• Maintain clean and organised work areas
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• National Senior Certificate (Matric)
• Trade Test Certificate: Automotive Electrician (Required)
• N2 Engineering qualification in relevant field
• Minimum 3 years’ post-trade experience
• Experience working on heavy earthmoving equipment in an opencast mining environment
• Valid Driver’s License
