Assisting Manager Feed (Piggery Assistant Manager)

SUMMARY:
Location: Gouda Piggery, Between Moorreesburg and Gouda, Western Cape
Salary: Approximately R12,000 per month
Gouda Piggery, a well-established Weaner and Finisher unit with an average of 6,300 pigs, situated next to the Berg River between Moorreesburg and Gouda, is seeking a motivated and trustworthy Assisting Manager Feed to join our team.
About the Role:
You will assist in managing the feeding operations and potentially the weaner section, while supporting all areas of the farm as needed. This hands-on role requires a genuine interest in pigs and a willingness to learn, with training provided to develop your skills further.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily feed management and weaner care operations.
• Maintain accurate records related to feed, animal health, and farm activities.
• Support biosecurity, animal welfare, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as fastening bolts and simple repairs.
• Lead and motivate team members when required, promoting a positive work environment.
• Communicate effectively with staff and management.
• Willingness to work weekends and flexible hours as needed.
• Assist in all parts of the farm as required.

Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of pigs and a genuine passion for working with them.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills.
• Basic maintenance skills and practical ability with tools.
• Trustworthy, reliable, and committed to high standards of animal care.
• Understanding of biosecurity, animal welfare, and agricultural regulations (training provided).
• Leadership potential and team management abilities.
• Effective communication skills.
• Relevant agricultural qualification or training is an advantage but not essential.
• Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
