Assistant I Junior Winemaker

SUMMARY:
Wine Estate based in the Stellenbosch I Brackenfell area is looking for an Assistant I Junior Winemaker to support the Head Winemaker by managing daily cellar operations, including harvest logistics, fermentation monitoring, blending and bottling.
 
You will ensure quality control, maintain equipment, and supervise junior staff. This hands-on role requires technical knowledge of winemaking, physical stamina and strong communication skills.

Duties:
 
Overseeing grape crushing, pressing, pumping, and tank management.
Sampling grapes for maturity, conducting lab tests on wine, and monitoring fermentation.
Assisting in blending, bottling, and managing inventory.
Maintaining detailed records of product movements, chemical additions, and equipment maintenance.
Managing cellar staff and assisting with, or leading, cellar tours and wine tastings.
 
Requirements:
 
Grade 12
A BSc in Agriculture (Oenology/Viticulture) or a Diploma in Cellar Technology
Previous experience (2–5 years) in a, or with, similar, winery environment
Proficiency with MS Office and industry-specific software
Ability to work long hours during harvest and lift heavy equipment.
