Job Overview

Our client is seeking a strong and experienced Assistant Financial Controller (AFC) to join their team at a well-established hospitality and leisure establishment in Hazyview.

Please note: Candidates must already reside in Hazyview or the surrounding area. Local residency is a key requirement for this position.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the overall management of the financial function.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Monitor income, expenditure and financial performance.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Oversee reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• Assist with cash flow management and financial controls.
• Manage month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
• Ensure accurate processing and reporting of financial transactions.
• Assist with audit preparation and liaise with auditors where required.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal financial procedures.
• Analyse financial information and identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
• Support management with financial information and decision-making.
• Work closely with the Financial Controller and management team.
• Take on additional financial and managerial responsibilities as required.

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience in a financial accounting, accounting management or financial control role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management.
• Experience in financial reporting, reconciliations and month-end procedures.
• Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to take initiative and accept additional responsibility.

Advantageous

• A relevant accounting or finance qualification.
• Experience in the hospitality, hotel, resort or leisure industry.
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Previous experience supervising or managing finance staff.
• Experience with accounting systems and financial reporting software.
