POSITION INFO:
The Assistant Despatch Manager’s primary function is to provide professional, efficient and accurate service by supporting the daily dispatch operations. This role ensures accurate, timely, and safe movement of all materials, while maintaining documentation and assisting with team supervision and compliance efforts, ensure quality is according to the correct standards as well as ensuring that all health and safety measures are adhered to.

- Fleet Coordination
- Safety and Yard Cleanliness
- Reporting
- Testing and ensuring that all metal that is purchased and dispatched is radiation free.
- Adhere to health and Safety regulations for department and staff.
- Inspect operators/ drivers’ machines daily.
- Ensure that loading instruction are followed correctly and liaise with dispatch manager, operations manager and divisional director to confirm all instructions.
- Ensure all instructions on loading checklist are done accurately.
- Confirm loading instructions received and indicate what commodity to load.
- Work according to planned schedule and follow instructions.
- Attend meetings (Safety & Production).
- Facilitate Health & Safety Toolbox Talks.
- Adhere to Health & Safety Regulations.
QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
- A minimum of between 2-5 years’ experience in a production industry.
- Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory position.
- Logistic experience.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Problem-solving skills.
- Multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize available resources.
- Excellent knowledge of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals.
- Knowledge of Company Rules & Regulations.
- Knowledge of production planning and goal setting.
- Good knowledge of H&S regulations.
- Flexible and willing to work overtime.
- Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.

Standard hours
07h30 – 17h00: Monday to Thursday
07h30 – 16h00: Friday
