💼 WE’RE HIRING: ASSISTANT ACCOUNTING OFFICER (LODGE ENVIRONMENT)
📍 Mara Region, Tanzania

An exciting opportunity for a detail-driven finance professional to join a dynamic lodge operation in the heart of the Mara. This role is critical in ensuring strong financial control, accurate reporting, and safeguarding of company assets.
KEY OUTPUTS
🔢 Financial Management
• Correct authorisation and allocation of business expenditure
• Timely and accurate transaction recording (PanStrat & manual systems)
• Prepare supplier payment requests
• Interpret and analyse management accounts
• Assist with payroll preparation and reconciliations
• Resolve general ledger and balance sheet reconciliation queries
• Manage and update stock sheets
📊 Reporting
• Meet all non-negotiable finance deadlines
• Provide feedback on management accounts to the Regional Finance Manager
• Drive monthly finance meetings and report outcomes
• Assist with budgets and quarterly forecasts
• Support lodge managers and directors with financial queries
• Assist with year-end audits
• Reconcile clearing accounts and inter-lodge transactions
• Supervise and manage finance reports
🛡 Internal Controls & Safeguarding Assets
• Maintain stock control procedures and assist with stock takes
• Monitor and update internal controls
• Conduct documented internal audits and spot checks
• Investigate and report any losses or control breaches
• Take responsibility for petty cash, mobile wallets, and bank accounts
• Audit safari shop systems and processes
• Ensure accurate financial documentation is maintained
🎓 Training & Support
• Train staff on PanStrat
• Assist lodge teams with accounting principles
• Review and train Front of House systems
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
✔ CPA qualification or active progression is an advantage
✔ 2–3 years’ accounting/finance experience (hospitality or lodge environment preferred)
✔ Strong accounting principles and financial control knowledge
✔ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
✔ PanStrat or similar system experience advantageous
✔ Fluent in English and Swahili
