Assistant Accountant with Xero Experience
POSITION INFO:
Assistant Accountant (POS25292)
Location: Goodwood (Cape Town)
Salary: R 20 000 per month
Requirements:
- Accounting Certificate, Diploma, or Degree from a recognized institution
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar accounting position
- Proficient in XERO Accounting Software (essential)
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and standards
- Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans
- Computer literate (MS Office, especially Excel)
- Valid driver’s licence
- Willingness to work longer hours when required
- Available to assist for a few hours over weekends as needed
Responsibilities:
- Assist the finance team in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Process supplier and customer invoices efficiently and accurately
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes and reporting
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Support auditors with required documentation and reconciliations
- Handle administrative and operational finance tasks as assigned
- Perform ad hoc duties as requested by management
- Participate in certain operational duties as part of the broader company function
