Assistant Accountant

SUMMARY:
An Assistant Accountant position has become available at a well-established Retail Brand. We are looking for a high-performing and reliable individual who will add value within the finance team, reporting to the Finance Manager and the Accountant. You are obsessed with accuracy, have excellent time management, and deliver on all reporting and capturing functions.

POSITION INFO:

Provide accounting support within the finance team relating to reporting and compliance

All entries processed to accounts will be reviewed at a high detailed level

The assistant accountant will be responsible for balance sheet reconciliations, trial balance and managing foreign supplier payments

Manage company payments with a mandate of 1^st release on payments

Assist the greater finance team on ERP systems with user needs, trouble shooting and data processing solutions

Skills & Experience:

Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in similar role

Ideally in a retail or FMCG environment

Advanced Excel skills

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process

Advanced knowledge of SAGE X3 would be an advantage, or at the minimum, advanced knowledge of a

similar ERP system (SAP or SAGE)

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Specific knowledge of accounts receivable management

Ability to multitask, analytical and structured

Qualification:

Matric or NQF equivalent

Diploma/Certificate in accounting
