Assistant Accountant

POSITION INFO:

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Finance (Accounting) or other relevant Finance qualification.

Knowledge/Experience

• 3-5 years experience in an accounting role. Experience in imports will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of ERP systems. Experience in  Kerridge financials will be advantageous
• Experience in MS Office with emphasis on knowledge of Excel     

Key roles and responsibilities:  

Daily and Weekly: 

• Complete local and foreign creditors reconciliations
• Allocating foreign payments on the rates schedule for TT''s ,LC''s and FBC''s
• Performing local and foreign stock registration and verification and processing of payments
• Opening of local and foreign stock creditors accounts
• Completion of weekly freight forwarder  reconciliations and processing of payments
• Updating and reconciling debtor receipts/deposit bank accounts and  Facility bank account. Loading of cashbook entries
• Prepare the daily cash flow from the creditors age analysis and ensure that paymentsare valid, accurate and complete
• Preparation of the daily bank balance reports for the Eurolux Group
• Preparation of the weekly director’s working capital report
• Updating of daily exchange rates on Kerridge
• Daily check on control accounts for stock, debtors and creditors
• Checking of shipping files and liaising with Investec and Nedbank Treasury for the booking of foreign exchange rates for TT, LC and FBC foreign payments
• Issuing of manual invoices and assisting with other day to day ad hoc finance administration\ Assisting with the processing of insurance claims

Monthly

• Analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts – inclusive of loan account balancing
• Processing of journals
• Reconciliation of the  banking facility account
• Reconciliation of the bank deposit accounts 
• Reconciliation of  bank accounts
• Reconciliation of Petty cash and physical count of cash on hand
• Revaluation of  debtors, bank and creditors based on forex month end rates
• Completion of the fixed asset register schedule
