SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

• Adhere to all safety regulations and work standards.
• Carry out planned maintenance activities to Diesel equipment and vehicles.
• Conduct basic risk assessments on task to be performed.
• Conduct fault-finding and identify equipment failure modes by applying basic asset management principles.
• Basic understanding of reliability engineering principles (MTBF, basic failure trending, understand the
• link between failures and maintenance strategies).
• Be able to accurately scope parts and services required to conduct equipment / vehicle maintenance as per end
• user’s request.
• Be able to communicate and influence decisions and actions of stakeholders on other departments.
• Be able to prioritize, track work and follow through on tasks (including administrative) to support turn around
• times on maintenance activities.
• Maintain required housekeeping standards at area of work and in workshop.
• Conduct Safety Management inspections
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Prepared to do physical and uncomfortable work as stipulated in the job description.
• Willingness to coach and transfer knowledge from own known environment and experience.
• Be willing to perform standby duties and work overtime when required (in accordance with legislation)
• Be willing and capable to act in supervisory position and fulfil supervisory responsibilities as and when required.
• Be able to manage self, work individually but also as part of a team.
• Must be a self-driven individual.

• NQF 4 trade test
• Section 28 trade tested artisan (Diesel Artisan)
• Drivers licence – code EC (Valid PDP will be advantageous)

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified artisan maintaining diesel and petrol vehicles
• Previous experience on Truck tractors and trailing equipment (Mercedes Benz / MAN/ air brake systems)
• Previous experience on Earth Moving equipment (Bell / JCB front end loaders).
• Previous experience on hydraulic systems and operation.
• Previous experience on diesel driven locomotives (wish).
• Previous experience on forklifts (wish).
• Previous experience on tractors (wish).
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge on Sasol’s Work Management System (wish)
