Our client is a specialist healthcare recruitment agency providing staffing solutions across England and Wales. The business supports supported living services, complex needs, mental health, crisis intervention, nursing homes and residential homes.
The agency supplies experienced support workers, healthcare assistants, nurses and other healthcare professionals to organisations across the healthcare and social care sector.
THE ROLE: APPOINTMENT SETTER
This is a sales-focused role responsible for identifying and engaging prospective clients across the UK healthcare and social care sector through high-volume outbound cold calling and proactive prospecting.
You will generate new business opportunities, qualify prospective clients, understand their staffing requirements and book qualified meetings for the sales team. The role also involves nurturing prospects through to conversion and contributing directly to new business growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct high-volume outbound cold calls to prospective UK healthcare and social care organisations.
• Identify and target decision-makers within care homes, supported living providers, nursing homes and other healthcare organisations.
• Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting and cold outreach.
• Qualify prospects and understand their staffing requirements, challenges and potential fit.
• Book qualified meetings and appointments for the sales team.
• Follow up consistently with prospects through phone, email and other appropriate channels.
• Build relationships with prospects and nurture opportunities through to conversion.
• Develop a strong understanding of the services offered and effectively communicate the value proposition to prospective clients.
• Work closely with the sales team to ensure qualified opportunities are effectively handed over.
• Maintain accurate records of all activity, prospects and opportunities within the CRM.
• Consistently achieve agreed activity, meeting and conversion targets.
• Track and report on key performance indicators and sales metrics.
ABOUT YOU
• Proven experience in a sales or appointment-setting role.
• Strong sales experience and sales acumen with a genuine commercial mindset.
• Exceptional cold-calling and telephone sales skills.
• Proven track record of booking qualified meetings through outbound prospecting.
• Demonstrable experience converting appointments and opportunities into active clients.
• Experience working with the UK market is essential.
• Confident communicating with senior decision-makers and business owners.
• Resilient, persistent and comfortable handling objections and rejection.
• Highly target-driven with a strong desire to achieve and exceed KPIs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of prospects.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
• Basic understanding of the healthcare market where direct industry experience is not held.
• Experience within healthcare recruitment, healthcare staffing, social care or a related sector is highly desirable.
• Previous experience selling B2B services is highly advantageous.
KPIs AND PERFORMANCE METRICS
Candidates must be able to demonstrate clear previous performance against sales KPIs and metrics and should be prepared to provide examples of:
• Number of outbound calls made per day or week.
• Number of conversations generated.
• Number of meetings booked.
• Meeting conversion rate.
• Show rate for booked meetings.
• Number of opportunities generated.
• Lead-to-client conversion rate.
• Number of new clients acquired.
• Monthly or quarterly revenue generated, where applicable.
• Previous sales targets and percentage of target achieved.
• Average deal value or client value, where relevant.
• Examples of consistently exceeding targets.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The successful candidate must be genuinely sales-driven rather than someone who simply has experience making calls. You should be confident picking up the phone, opening conversations with cold prospects, handling objections and creating genuine interest in the services being offered.
You must be able to demonstrate a clear history of hitting sales targets, booking meetings and converting opportunities into paying clients.
Healthcare recruitment experience is a significant advantage, although strong B2B sales experience within the UK market will also be considered.
