SUMMARY:
DBN000247 - Animal Nutritionist – SA Remote
 
Purpose of the job:
Through the creation of yearly financial statements, the consolidation of financial results, and compliance with IFRS standards, this position is in charge of guaranteeing accurate and compliant financial reporting. It supports budgeting, implements cost accounting policies, and supervises financial provisions, journals, and intercompany transactions.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
2. Must be registered with SACNASP or Eligible to register (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions) in a relevant category.
3. 7+ years of experience in animal nutrition, feed formulation, or related roles.
4. Experience with specific species is an advantage (Dairy, beef).
5. Strong knowledge of animal nutritional requirements and feed ingredients.
6. Experience with feed formulation software (NDS // AMTS // Allix // Excel).
7. Ability to analyse performance, laboratory results, supply practical solutions.
8. Ability to travel

POSITION INFO:
Technical Competencies & Experience:

1. Create and refine feed formulas for any animal, including dairy, cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, pigs, and game.
2. Make sure diets maximize cost-effectiveness while fulfilling nutritional requirements.
3. Modify formulations in response to changes in price, quality, and the availability of raw materials on the farm.
4. Analyze performance data (growth, feed conversion, health outcomes) and carry out nutritional studies as needed.
5. Provide dietary advice to consumers, production teams, and salespeople.
6. Investigate nutrition-related problems with feeding, health, or performance.
7. Verify adherence to national and international feed and food safety laws.
8. Encourage raw material and finished feed quality control procedures.
9. Encourage the introduction of new products and internal staff and customer training programs.
10. Clearly communicate technical results to audiences that are both scientific and non-scientific.
