SUMMARY:
Are you a technically strong Accountant who understands the why behind the numbers—not just the processing?

POSITION INFO:
This role is ideal for an individual with a solid grasp of core accounting principles, strong technical ability, and the confidence to interpret how the balance sheet and income statement interact to tell the full financial story.

This role is based in Johannesburg North.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records in line with accounting standards and best practice
Process end-to-end accounting entries, ensuring correct recognition, classification, and measurement
Prepare monthly management accounts, including income statement and balance sheet reviews
Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
Ensure accurate interaction between the balance sheet and income statement, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and provisions
Maintain the general ledger and ensure integrity of financial data within Xero
Review transactional postings to ensure technical accounting accuracy
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Support cash flow monitoring and working capital management
Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations
Assist with audit preparation, including supporting schedules and technical explanations
Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls
Provide accounting guidance to junior team members or non-finance stakeholders where required

Job Experience and Skills Required:

BCom degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
