About the Role
The primary objective of this role is to ensure the availability of a fully operational Automated Teller Machine (ATM) service to customers. This includes custody and balancing of ATM cash, processing ATM deposits, and managing ATM computer reports. You will also be responsible for identifying and managing risks associated with ATM custody through effective controls while upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure ATM terminals are adequately stocked with cash and stationery.
- Maintain close communication with the control centre to promptly resolve equipment issues.
- Identify and address potential faults that could cause equipment malfunction in a timely manner.
ATM Cash Replenishment
- Manage ATM cash in accordance with prescribed procedures; ensure ATM bags or canisters are properly sealed.
- Balance cash at specified intervals (including top-ups).
- Verify that correct processes are followed and accurate details are recorded on the ATM system.
- Obtain and retain a slip for every replenishment.
- Report any service interruptions or changes immediately.
- Safeguard ATM cash to prevent avoidable loss at all times.
Deposit/Purge Bin Management
- Clear cash deposits accurately and promptly, where applicable.
- Refer irregular or suspicious deposits to the Branch Security Officer (BSO) or designated official for review without delay.
- Ensure timely delivery of deposits to the Bank or G4S Cash Centre.
Reports and Reconciliation
- Action ATM reports as outlined in the duty list promptly and in accordance with procedures.
- Ensure ATM slips are controlled and submitted to the cash centre.
- Reconcile ATM cash daily on the same day, following established procedures.
Company Firearms
- Adhere strictly to the Firearm and Ammunition Control work instructions.
- Report firearm repairs through the designated responsible person, who will complete the Firearms Repair Register at the branch.
- Complete mandatory annual firearm training.
- Ensure firearms remain in serviceable condition at all times.
Health and Safety
- Contribute to the design, development, review, implementation, and monitoring of branch, regional, and national safety plans annually.
- Participate in company safety forums, including meetings and safety talks.
- Report all safety incidents promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Engage in discussions regarding safety incidents at all levels.
- Follow up on actions assigned through safety meetings, committees, representatives, or management.
- Attend safety education and refresher programmes as required.
- Comply with all workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Distribute safety information when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Matric certificate with Mathematics.
- Minimum of two years’ experience operating and maintaining ATMs.
- Certification in ATM Custodian course.
- Certificate of Competence.
- Proficient computer literacy.
- Previous teller experience would be advantageous.
